Here are some useful and common steps which are generally used to install wallpapers on walls.
Prepare the Wall
You need to prepare the wall by removing all the decorative items, paintings and other hanging stuffs. Moreover, you also need to remove the wall plates, wall fixtures, outlet plates and other items. If the wall is having a wall or a crack, you need to refill and renew it to give it a smoother look to your wallpaper. Check the wall for the dampness
Check the Condition of Paint on the Wall
You need to check the wall for dampness and other seepage issues because this can damage the paint as well as the wallpaper. You can perform two quick tests – take a damp sponge and press it against the wall for almost 15 seconds. Then scrub the area with a cloth. If it removes the paint in larger quantity, then you need to wash the walls with water and soap mixture. You can also sand the walls with a sand paper to make their surface even. Once the sanding is complete, you should apply a primer on the walls before hanging wallpapers. On a new dry wall, you should apply an opaque or a white primer.
Cut the Wallpaper
You need to cut the wallpaper according to the height and width of the walls. Don’t forget to keep the margin of 1 to 2 inches which you will need to trim from the sides.
Soak the Wallpaper in Water
Pour the lukewarm water in the wallpaper tray. You need to place the wallpaper by rolling it from inside out. This will help the wall paper to soak the water evenly. The paper should be dipped for 15 seconds provided that all the water bubbles have finished.
Hang it on the Wall
Now you can hang it on the wall by starting from the ceiling. Do not stretch it too much because it may disturb its alignment as well as designs.
Trim the Edges
Once you have completely applied a wall paper, you need to trim its edges to give it a more finished look.
Before choosing any kind of wall paper you should ask your interior designer in Lahore to have a thorough examination of your house interior.
